You may be aware that the Government has changed the Winter Fuel Payment criteria and only those at pension age who are claiming Pension Credit (or certain means-tested benefits) will be eligible for the payment this year.
This will be paid in November or December 2024, to help pay your winter heating bills for 2024/25.
If you are eligible, you will automatically get a payment of £200 or £300 depending on your date of birth and personal circumstances as of the ‘qualifying week’ which is 16-22 September 2024.
If you do not claim or if you are unsure if you are in receipt of Pension Credit, you should contact the DWP Pension Service urgently on 0800 991234 or complete an application online at www.gov.uk/pension-credit/how-to-claim before the end of the qualifying week to ensure you receive the Winter Fuel Payment this winter.
