Job description
What’s the role?
Project Manager (approx. 22.5 hours per week)
£40,478 – £43,516 (actual salary £24,615 – £26,462)
Fixed-term contract for 24 months
Homes in Sedgemoor require an experienced project manager to support the organisation’s ongoing projects.
We are looking for a highly qualified and experienced project manager to oversee the delivery of key, identified strategic projects. This is an entirely new role, designed to help us organise and deliver more projects within the business. Working with the Executive Team as project sponsors you will support the identified leads to ensure timely completion of our key objectives.
You will:
- Manage the strategic projects by working alongside the project Leads across the organisation.
- Establish and maintain processes for managing scope during the project life cycle, setting quality and performance standards and assessing risk.
What will I have to do?
You will:
- Engage with key stakeholders to identify project objectives, the benefits that will be realised key products to be delivered
- Utilise project plans and schedules to monitor all activities
- Manage relationships amongst stakeholders by building confidence and trust with clear professional communication and assured expectation management.
- Drive project execution, track delivery, expect, monitor and control change, own change management and proactively seek and resolve blockers
- Work with project leads to develop project proposals and monitor project risk registers where required
- Record information accurately and consistently, using appropriate systems and provide and communicate timely information to relevant parties.
- Seek stakeholder insight and feed into improved processes whilst ensuring compliance with Governance and standards
- Present progress reports to Executive Team
What do I need to be successful?
- Relevant professional experience is essential (is this the same as the PM qual requirement below?)
- A recognised qualification in project management
- A track record of successful management and delivery of projects as well as experience in successful partnership working, relationship development and management.
- Proven networking and leadership skills that inspire confidence and bring all organisations together
- Knowledge of local authorities, ideally the housing sector.
- Experience in using a range of project management tools and techniques including agile and lean.
- Strong attention to deadlines and budgetary guidelines
- Be a sound decision-maker and negotiator
- Be solution-focused
- Demonstrate the ability to produce clear, accurate verbal and written reports on complex issues to a variety of audiences, including customers, colleagues, Board and Council
- Possess highly developed communication skills, with the ability to engage and persuade people at all levels
- Experience in coaching project team members to strengthen their abilities and skill set
- Plan, schedule, prioritise and allocate work effectively, delivering to multiple and challenging deadlines and monitoring progress against plans using project management techniques.
- Remain calm, effective and positive even when under pressure and take ownership for delivering outcomes.
About Homes in Sedgemoor
We are an ALMO responsible for delivering housing management, maintenance and community services to more than 4,200 tenancies and leaseholders on behalf of Somerset Council.
We commenced operations on April 1, 2007, and agreed on a new 30-year Management Agreement with the council this year. This sets out the condition, obligations, and service requirements with which we are required to comply.
