Somerset Council is upgrading its payment system, and therefore the current system will be switched off at midnight on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 until the new system is live on Thursday, December 5, 2024.
This means customers will be unable to pay rent using a debit or credit card either online, on the phone via an officer or through the automated payment system between these dates.
Customers who pay their rent regularly using one of these methods will still need to pay their rent on time. Customers can either pay using a different method, as highlighted below, or if their normal pay date falls during this period, customers can pay in full beforehand by November 26 or afterwards on December 5, but please inform your Income Officer as soon as possible, to prevent recovery action being taken.
Payment methods
Customers can pay by Standing Order or bank transfer via online banking/banking app, by quoting their full tenancy reference number and using our bank account details which can be obtained by contacting our Customers Services Team.
Alternatively, a letter has been sent to customers who are likely to be affected by the system change. On this letter, there is a barcode which contains a unique reference number and can be used at any Post Office or Paypoint outlet free of charge.
We apologise for any inconvenience and please do contact our Customer Services Team on 0800 585 360 if there are any questions or concerns.
