Swift action on anti-social behaviour

When three lots of neighbours living in a Homes in Sedgemoor block of flats complained that one resident was causing loud noises, shouting at other neighbours, and causing general anti-social behaviour, we stepped in to assist.

Despite our immediate action working with the resident to try resolve the complaints, following numerous visits and tenancy warnings, there was no improvement.

With no other option, we obtained an injunction to prevent anti-social behaviour within this address. We wanted to try and support the tenant to maintain their tenancy so initially did not want to apply to court for possession of the resident’s property, but we had to deal with the ASB complaints. The case was referred to court and with the support of witness statements from other residents who were being impacted, we were granted the injunction. Since then, Homes in Sedgemoor have received no further complaints and the residents’ lives have improved.

Antisocial Behaviour Officer Cyan Matthews, said: “Homes in Sedgemoor are committed to dealing with antisocial behaviour and resolving cases as quickly as possible to ensure residents can enjoy a peaceful home. We ensured that this case was dealt with as quickly as possible, taking all appropriate action to help resolve the situation for the tenant and residents who were impacted by the anti-social behaviour.
